when you’re based out of new york city - the greatest city on earth, but also have an opportunity to travel across the country, it gives opportunity to shoot with amazing people in beautiful locations. Take a look at some of our recent favorites.
O + S // Downtown Milford, CT Engagement Session (Copy)
Milford, Connecticut
Downtown
Ducatis, Ivy Walls, and Waterfalls
JULY, 2021 | Downtown Milford, CT
O + S decided to have their engagement session in the beautiful downtown Milford, Connecticut - in the middle of the summer when everything is green, green, green.
We love to shoot engagements in locations that mean something to the couple. There’s so much history there - the place you got engaged, time spent, memories made - it just means more. Another thing that means a lot to these guys are their beautiful Ducatis - a red and a black one. So, when they said they wanted to do engagement photos with their motorcycles, there’s no turning that down.
Fun fact, S and Alex played football together back in high school. So cool after all these years to reconnect and be able to capture such a big moment in their lives.
L + R // Dumbo, Brooklyn Engagement Session
Brooklyn, NYC
DUMBO
Promenade, Cobblestone Streets, and Carousels
June, 2021 | Dumbo, Brooklyn, NY
L + R went through the ringer with covid messing up wedding plans, and last minute decided to make things happen - because why wait, right? With the excitement of the wedding (or should we say elopement) two months away, they decided to make an engagement session happen in the most beautiful area of Dumbo. From the Brooklyn promenade where they proposed (R did not get on a knee in case you were wondering), through the neighborhoods, then down to Pier 16 and Jane’s Carousel.
These guys are awesome, and we’re so excited to capture their semi-elopement in August up in the Finger Lakes. We’re just hoping that the heat of the summer doesn’t follow us up there.
C + W // Washington Square Park, NYC Engagement Session
New York City, New York
Washington Square Park
Purple flags, running, and street crossing
JULY, 2021 | Washington Square Park, NYC
C + W met at New York University (NYU), right in the thick of the city. Washington Square Park is gorgeous, and the arch, which was created in 1891 (!), is iconic.
The lighting and lack of people are a strong reason I frequently recommend morning for engagements in New York City. The way the light bounces off the buildings, the lack of crowds, the (usually) cool weather, really allow you to have the city to yourself - Jess and I talked about how the pictures of them crossing the street really looked and felt like a movie set - unbelievable!
This shoot started in Washington Square Park, capturing the arch and the fountain, then we walked the streets of NYU and finished up at some beautiful, Italian-style housing that the university provides.
These guys have some amazing wedding plans, hoping everything comes together for them!
Engagement Session In Beautiful Portsmouth, New Hampshire
Portsmouth, NH
Prescott Park
Flowers, boats, and puppies
OCTOBER 3, 2020 | PORTSMOUTH, NH
When B & J asked me if I’d be willing to travel to their little city of Portsmouth for their engagements, I didn’t hesitate to say yes.
One of the things I love most about wedding and engagement photography is the opportunity to meet new people and see new places. Portsmouth did not disappoint. Very similar to Portland Maine or Portland Oregon - a small, quaint city with so much history and character.
It’s no wonder this couple decided to call this place home with their two pups (I also didn’t hesitate to say yes to bringing their dogs on the engagement shoot. I will never say no, by the way.)
This shoot started in the flower garden - something I have less of an opportunity to shoot in New York City. Just a different vibe but a gorgeous little area. I’m grateful to B & J for trusting me as I bounced through different lenses and skipped around the garden like a madman.
Then we met up in the city, and the dogs came. There’s nothing more fun or unexpected than bringing some dogs on the shoot.
Really excited to see what these guys have planned for their wedding. Excited to work with them again and create some more magic up in New Hampshire.
